Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 5, 2026Last updated: October 8, 2026
OverDrive IT ("OverDrive IT," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through overdrive-it.net and any linked tools (including our self-assessment/risk-report tool), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By using this website, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us directly:
- Name, email address, phone number, company name, and job role — when you fill out a contact form, request a consultation, sign up for our newsletter, or complete our self-assessment tool
- Responses to the self-assessment questionnaire (your answers about your current IT setup, security posture, and compliance needs)
- Any information you include in a message to us (email, text, contact form, or phone call)
Information collected automatically:
- IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages visited, time on page, and referring site
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 4)
We do not knowingly collect payment card or banking information through this website.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries and schedule consultations
- Score and route self-assessment results, and follow up on them
- Send requested content (newsletters, blog updates, resources)
- Operate, maintain, and improve the website and the self-assessment tool
- Understand aggregate site usage and traffic patterns
- Meet legal and contractual obligations
Calls, texts, and email
When you give us your phone number or email address through a form on this site, including the self-assessment tool, you agree that OverDrive IT may contact you by phone and email about your request, your results, and related follow-up.
We send text messages only if you opt in. The self-assessment form has two separate, optional checkboxes, both unchecked by default: one for transactional texts (about your results, resources you requested, and scheduling) and one for promotional texts (security tips, check-in questions, and offers). You can check either, both, or neither, and you can submit the form without checking any. Texts are sent from a business number using automated technology. Consent to texts is not a condition of buying anything from us.
- Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier's standard messaging and data charges apply to texts we send and to texts you send us. We don't charge for texts.
- Message frequency varies. Typically 4-6 texts over the course of two weeks.
- Opt out any time. Reply STOP to any text and we'll stop texting you. Reply HELP for help. You can also tell us by email or phone (Section 11), and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
- We don't share your mobile number or text-messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers that help us send texts (see Section 3) can use your number only to deliver our messages. This doesn't apply to carriers that transmit the messages.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. The self-assessment tool's risk score is a self-service estimate, not an automated eligibility or pricing decision.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information with the following categories of service providers, solely to operate our business and this website:
- CRM / lead management — Close CRM, to store and manage contact and lead records and to send calls, texts, and email on our behalf
- Infrastructure / hosting — Cloudflare (processes self-assessment submissions) and Squarespace (hosts the website)
- Email and calendaring — Google Workspace, for business communications and scheduling
- Analytics/tracking tools — Close CRM, Squarespace
Each of these providers is contractually limited to using your information to provide services to us — not for their own marketing purposes.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we'll notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy).
4. Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking them may affect site functionality.
5. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, which is the duration of our relationship with you plus 5 years, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
6. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we've collected about you
- Request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may also have rights under GDPR, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
This website is intended for business audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Third-party links
Our website may link to third-party sites. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of those sites — review their policies separately.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted on this page.
